Everyone's a Critic
Wanda Sykes, Please Come Get Your Toaster Oven
One of my favorite comics has come out of the closet:
"Everybody that knows me personally they know I'm gay..."
You can read about it in brief HERE.

That Which Does Not Kill Us...
I hope this is a sign of things to come, now is not the time to sit back and accept something that is nothing more than discriminatory in nature. Now is not the time to allow the religious right to dictate anything, let alone the ability of two people to join in marriage.
Now is the time to fight back, to kick ass, and to take no prisoners.

Damn, I'm a Political Psychic!!
Picture it, a few days after Senator Hillary Clinton graciously bowed out of the race ... I am sitting in the lunch room over at Officeland and I say to one of my co-workers, "I think Obama should offer Hillary the Secretary of State position".
My co-worker, who is more fascinated by the Macy's ads in the local paper grunts something.
That night, at dinner, I say to Whatshisname, "I think that Obama is going to offer Hillary the Secretary of State position".
My significant other, who is more fascinated by the latest comic book graphic novel he is reading, grunts something.
And so it continues for months; I state my belief, and I am met with grunts.
And then today, I read THIS.
Fave Foto Friday (Early Thanksgiving With Music Edition)
A tip of the buckled Pilgrim hat to Miss Magnolia, who discovered this priceless album cover by "The Gay Gourmet", Marie Merrington. I know, who in the hell is Marie Merrington? Well apparently she was the Martha Stuart of her time and she wrote several cookbooks. Here is the link to one of them.Look at that table! Is that deviled eggs I see? and a ham, and a turkey, and something covered in marshmallow's???
One can only wonder what this album sounded like. Was it Marie spouting off recipes? Or maybe just background music for your own feast ... I'd kill to get my paws on this one.

For Veteran's Day
Universal Soldier by Buffy Sainte-Marie; sung by Donavon *
* a tip of the hat to my good pal, Gerry for pointing out who actually wrote this song.
He's five foot-two, and he's six feet-four,
He fights with missiles and with spears.
He's all of thirty-one, and he's only seventeen,
Been a soldier for a thousand years.
He'a a Catholic, a Hindu, an Atheist, a Jain,
A Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew.
And he knows he shouldn't kill,
And he knows he always will,
Kill you for me my friend and me for you.
And he's fighting for Canada,
He's fighting for France,
He's fighting for the USA,
And he's fighting for the Russians,
And he's fighting for Japan,
And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way.
And he's fighting for Democracy,
He's fighting for the Reds,
He says it's for the peace of all.
He's the one who must decide,
Who's to live and who's to die,
And he never sees the writing on the wall.
But without him,
How would Hitler have condemned him at Dachau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone,
He's the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war,
And without him all this killing can't go on.
He's the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame,
His orders come from far away no more,
They come from here and there and you and me,
And brothers can't you see,
This is not the way we put the end to war.
